We Love Biking As Much As You Do.

Sharon began her journey in organizing in 1989 when she opened a Party Store in Yorktown VA that also offered event planning services. Over the next five years, she grew the business into a thriving success. When her husband's job required them to relocate to Idaho, she sold the business.

After moving across the country, Sharon focused on raising their growing family, staying home until the children reached school age. Once they were in school, she channeled her organizing talents into fundraising—helping to raise tens of thousands of dollars for various charities and schools.

In 2008, Sharon discovered a new passion: cycling. She quickly became an active member of the local cycling club and naturally found ways to put her organizing skills to work. She took over as the lead organizer for the club’s long-running fundraiser, the Surry Century, and later launched a brand-new event from the ground up—Pedal for the Pig, held in Smithfield, VA. Over the six years she led these initiatives, the club raised tens of thousands of dollars, which were invested back into the local community to build and improve cycling trails and infrastructure.

Over the years, many of Sharon’s friends shared stories of bicycle tours they had taken across Europe. That got her thinking: 'Why don't we have more opportunities to explore our own country on two wheels?' Inspired, she began organizing fun local 'staybikecations' for her cycling friends. After years of crafting memorable experiences for her inner circle, she officially launched Magical Mystery Bike Tours in 2017. However, true to her perfectionist nature—and delayed further by the onset of COVID-19 in 2020—she didn’t open the tours to the general public until 2023.

Since then, she has been offering tours to many destinations across Virginia, her home state. Since opening to the public, Sharon has been offering tours to a variety of destinations across her home state of Virginia. What began as a creative way to raise money for charities has evolved into a thriving business. Her team—made up of trusted individuals she has worked with over the past 15 years—plays a key role in delivering memorable experiences and warm hospitality to every guest.

Philanthropy remains at the heart of her mission; she continues to donate a significant portion of her revenue to support cycling infrastructure throughout Virginia.

Our Support Staff

“Captain Overpacker”

Sharon is joined by “Captain Overpacker,” her long-time SAG (support and gear) director. They met leading bike rides for the club in 2010. He received his nickname on a group ride in the middle of nowhere, when Sharon pulled up to a stop sign and found him eating a slice of pizza retrieved from his giant handlebar bag. Already known as the guy who had anything and everything you could possibly need, the name stuck.

When she was building out her support team, Captain Overpacker was the perfect guy for the job. He is always thinking ahead and quite resourceful. Scott is also a skilled bike mechanic, licensed ham radio operator and notorious VW enthusiast with a You Tube channel called “StealthGTI”.

“Fly Girl”

Sharon is also joined by another close friend she met hiking in 2019, who we lovingly have nicknamed her “fly girl.” As a former flight attendant, she is skilled in handling the job of keeping you nourished and hydrated during your bicycle vacation with us.

Originally from New York, she has called Roanoke Valley her home for the last 25 years. She is an avid cyclist and hiker and has travelled with Sharon scouting and exploring for the last six years.

She is a mom to an adult daughter and a four-legged wonder dog, Koda. Her husband of 27 years just retired as a 747 captain for Atlas Airlines. He is known to join us for tours when he is available.
